WHAT YOU GET

Self-contained welfare, delivered

A BOXD welfare unit arrives on your site as a finished job. Toilet, hot water hand washing, canteen with kettle and microwave, drying space for wet gear, heating and lighting, all running off an onboard generator. No mains hook-up, no water connection, no drainage, no compound to build first.

We tow it in, level it, test it and hand it over working, usually inside the same visit. From that point the unit is serviced on a schedule through the hire, so waste removal and checks happen without you chasing anyone.

Our units are designed and equipped to support the welfare requirements of Schedule 2 of CDM 2015. Assessing what your particular site needs, and providing it, remains the duty of the employer or principal contractor.

THE FLEET

Three sizes, one standard

BOXD-12

Six-person open plan: canteen, separate WC and drying room, in a steel anti-vandal body. The one most small gangs actually need.

BOXD-16

Up to ten in the canteen plus a separate office behind its own door. Where the site manager stops working off a tailgate.

BOXD-20

Twelve seats, office with a desk and USB-C charging. Towable on its own axles, so no crane slot and no lift plan.

WHO USES THEM

Where our units end up

Mostly construction sites and groundworks and civils, where the welfare has to arrive before anything else does. Also utilities and highways gangs working a route, housebuilders running phased plots, farms at harvest and lambing, events, and film and TV unit bases.

What they have in common: no permanent facilities, a crew that still needs a toilet and somewhere warm to eat, and a start date that will not wait for a mains connection.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps, no faff

1. Send the postcode

Postcode, crew size, how many weeks. A fixed weekly price comes back the same working day, with delivery and collection stated separately. See what sets the price.

2. We deliver and set up

Towed in, levelled, tested and handed over working, with risk assessment information issued at handover. You need firm level standing and access for the vehicle: what to sort before we arrive.

3. Serviced through the hire

Waste removal and servicing to an agreed frequency, logged against the unit. Finished, or need it longer? One message either way.

We deliver across County Durham, Tyne and Wear, Teesside and Northumberland from our Durham base. Contact us for current delivery availability in your area.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is a welfare unit?
A welfare unit is a portable building that provides the facilities a workforce needs on a site with no permanent buildings: a toilet, hot water for washing, somewhere to make a brew and eat, somewhere to dry wet clothing, and heating and lighting. A self-contained unit like ours carries its own water, holds its own waste and generates its own power, so it works on a bare site from day one.
Do welfare units need mains power or water?
No. Ours run from an onboard diesel generator with demand management, carry their own fresh water and hold waste in a sealed tank emptied at service visits. That is the point of them: they work where there are no services.
Are BOXD welfare units towable?
Yes, every unit in our fleet tows in behind a suitable vehicle rather than needing a crane or HIAB. That means no lift plan, no crane slot, and a unit that can move to the next plot when this one closes out.
What size welfare unit do I need?
Size by peak headcount, not average, because an inspector counts seats. The 12ft covers six, the 16ft up to ten with an office, the 20ft up to twelve with an office. Our comparison tool works it out from your crew size.
How often are the units serviced?
Servicing and waste removal run to a frequency agreed at quote stage and included in the weekly rate. Visits are logged against the unit, so there is a record for your own compliance file.
Can I hire a welfare unit for one week?
Yes. Hire runs by the week from day one with no long minimum term. Rolling hires continue week to week until you give written off-hire notice, so an overrun needs no renegotiation.
How quickly can you deliver?
It depends on fleet availability and where your site is. Send the postcode and dates and we will tell you honestly what we can do rather than promise a slot we cannot hold.

Need a box on site?
