Nearly every delivery problem we see was visible a week earlier from the site gate. Walk this list before delivery day and the unit lands first time, every time.
The route in
- Width and height along the whole approach: gates, arches, overhanging trees, parked cars on the lane. A towing combination needs more room than a Transit
- Turning space: can the vehicle and unit get in, turn and get out, or is it a reverse job? Tell us which
- Restrictions: weight limits, one-way streets, parking suspensions on urban sites, red routes. Permits are the Hirer’s to arrange, and they take longer than you think
The standing
- Firm: the unit sits on its corner steadies for the whole hire. Soft ground, fresh fill and unmarked service trenches all move; tell us at enquiry and we plan for it
- Level: a slope a car ignores matters to a 20ft cabin. Reasonably level standing across the full footprint
- Clear above: overhead cables and low branches over the siting position, checked before the day, not discovered during it
- Serviceable: our wagon returns for waste servicing through the hire. If the unit gets built in behind the scaffold, servicing stops, leave the access open
On the day
Someone on site who knows where the unit goes, a gate that opens, and the position not occupied by a muck-away wagon. That is genuinely the whole list. Aborted deliveries caused by access we were not told about are chargeable everywhere in this trade, ours included, and every one of them is preventable with the walk-round above. Full hazard detail is on our risk assessments page.
